As you know, I am quite the Tim Burton fan and his movies and creations seem to have an infinite impact on my art. With visions of the Corpse Bride (although a slightly more evil one) flashing through my imagination last week, my mind eventually became so engrained with her face that I had to let her out. Conté seemed like the most obvious choice-- bold, abrasive, and expressive, as it allows the artist to smear, smudge and shade until satisfied. Working quickly with blackened hands, it was almost a relief to free this tragic character from my brain. A clear reflection of my feelings at the time... it always helps to release those haunting thoughts.
